It is currently 7:42 pm on Monday in Hong Kong. We have had two full days here already, and MAN have they been busy and fun!
We were very excited!! |
Flying! This was my fancy dinner and movie. |
We landed yesterday (Sunday) around 9 am, and we were picked up at the airport by Judson's friends Brittney and Ellison. Jud went to ETBU with Brittney, and she studied abroad in Hong Kong before Judson did, and she met Ellison here! They done felled in lubb and got hitched. Now they live here in Hong Kong! Jud's first trip here was for their wedding, then he came back to study abroad, and Brittney and Ellison are a part of Jud's Hong Kong family. :)
This is Brittney and Ellison and our double decker bus! |
We brought Brittney and Ellison a few things...like 100lbs of sweet American goods |
The first thing we did was eat food. Oh, you aren't surprised? Well. Neither was I! You know me....and I love food. We had some breakfast that consisted of thick toasted bread with butter and condensed milk on it. It was tasty.
We then rode a double decker bus (not the UK version, this one had a closed-in roof) to the bus station and took a cab to Brittney and Ellison's flat, aka apartment. They just moved in like 2 days before we got here, and it's super beautiful and has a very nice [foggy] view of the water.
Did I mention the weather? It's been between 60-70F, and cloudy/rainy. It's not miserable because it reminds of rainy, humid Texas days, but it's...wet.
After we got settled in, we changed clothes and stuff, and rode the MTR subway and went to Brittney and Ellison's church. I had to ask what day it was, because we left at midnight on Friday, and it was Sunday? I was very confused. I was also extremely sleepy/tired/exhausted because I didn't sleep well on the plane, so everything seemed foggy (not because of the actual mist in the air). Oh and we also ate Dim Sum before church. They had really excellent pork buns. Did I mention my jet lag confusion? That's why I forgot to tell you in chronological order.
After church, we ate some more! This time it was at a Jud-requested restaurant called "Crystal Jade." From what I can recall, it was good. I also ate some pork buns there. I was satisfied. I was exhausted. At this point I had been awake for like 35 hours and was feeling a little hallucinogenic.
We went home on the MTR, where Judson decides that it's time to test me on my subway skills..."so Franks, how are we getting home???" In my stupor I replied, "I DON'T WANT TO BE QUIZZED RIGHT NOW!" I actually yelled, but not like too loud. I don't think anyway. I don't remember getting dirty looks or anything... meh.
When we got home, I took a shower. It was probably the greatest, cleanest shower of all time. Traveling for 20 hours and then running around Asian cities can really make you feel gross. Then it was bed time, and I slept like a stone. Fortunately, today I wasn't sleepy and jet lagged, so I guess being a bear for a couple of hours was worth it.
The shower has it's own thermostat. It was neat! |
Well there it is! The first day!
